Echo Awards
On October 4, 2025, the Historical Museum at St. Gertrude presented its inaugural Echo Awards, recognizing outstanding contributions to preserving Idaho County’s history. This new award reflects the museum’s mission to amplify community voices and honor the unsung champions of local memory.
The award is named The Echo to reflect both the power of history to reverberate across generations and to honor the legacy of the Sisters of St. Gertrude, who once published a newsletter by the same name.
By giving the Echo Award, the Historical Museum at St. Gertrude shines a light on the labor of love carried out by individuals and small groups who often work without fanfare. This recognition strengthens the museum’s connection with the community and invites others to contribute in ways that reflect their own gifts.
Nominations for the 2026 Echo Awards are now being accepted!
Nominations are open to anyone who has made meaningful contributions to documenting or preserving Idaho County history. The ceremony will also serve as a gateway to welcome more volunteers, scholars, and storytellers into the work of keeping local history alive.
If you know someone whose quiet care for history deserves recognition, please consider nominating them.
