Organized around eight mystical experiences or themes which Gertrude recorded in Book II of her work, “Herald of God’s Loving Kindness,” each chapter begins with the author’s account of Gertrude’s spiritual experience. Sister Evangela then translates and renders Gertrude’s often rhetorical and convoluted Latin prose into simplified, pleasing, and faithful descriptions of the experience.

Concluding each chapter is a series of questions, topics for meditation, and prayers for personal reflection as readers discover anew Gertrude’s message for today.
